Throughout my life, the overwhelming connection of these kind of qualities with our flag and other patriotic symbols has too often kept me from expressing the love I have for the political system of democracy that was pioneered in this country. Now I say, To heck with them all. They are not going to hijack my flags, songs ... etc. We proudly fly a flag in front of our house, put up buntings for national holidays, and sing out loud when we get the chance. When people see this display, its amazing how many make false assumptions and come out with a crack or two in support of the kind of actions that are listed here. I suppose that I need to find some additional symbols that qualify my positions.
