Throughout the month of November, Pastor Lee Coyle asked several members of the church to share their Testimonial of Thanks. I did not give my testimony from the pulpit, but I did decide to write mine as well... The event, car accident, that took place in my life on Thursday, July 24, 2014, made me realize more than ever the power of prayer. As I sit here today, giving thanks, Im most thankful for my Lord, Jesus Christ, and for the power of prayer. Im thankful for my wonderful, caring, supportive church family and for Pastor Lee. Its the love and prayers they offered, along with so many others, that allow me to be able to write this today. And, most importantly, I know those prayers kept my baby, Rivers, here on this earth with us. Rivers is a true miracle of God. I know God is real because Rivers is alive and well today. It wasnt the EMS workers, the helicopter paramedics, the doctors, or the nurses that kept Rivers alive. It was God! Im also thankful for my family. I dont know three siblings who are as close as my brother, Edward, sister, Emory Henderson, and me. They truly are my best friends. I credit my wonderful, godly parents, for my close knit family and for who I am. Theyre also the reason Ive had the love and support Ive had from my church family for 33 years. Not many people can say theyre still a faithful member of the church they were dedicated in as an infant. Because of my parents, I can say that I am. Of course, I wouldnt be the person I am today if it werent for my soulmate, Gabe Watson. He and Ive been through so much together - good and bad. I dont wish the test we stood in July on anyone. For us, it made our love stronger. I wouldnt be who I am without him. With Gabe, also came my wonderful in-laws. Theyve welcomed me with open arms since day one. For that, Im thankful. Theres nothing more important to me than my God, my church, my family, and my friends. Without these things, Id be nothing. In closing, Ive always loved Thanksgiving - its my favorite holiday. However, this Thanksgiving, the word thanks has a whole new meaning for me.
