Throw back Thursday #TBT with a difference... #2 Its the 3yr anniversary of my daughter receiving a clean bill of health. We came very close to loosing her to Salmonella (typhoid strain) poisoning at that time. This is the blog I wrote while sitting by her side as she slept fitfully, temperatures raging around 42c (normal for her is 36-37).... Its all I could do to keep my sanity... 24hrs after writing this blog entry and approx 9days into her treatment, the specialist caring for her, sat hubby and I down to say hed done everything medically in his power to save her life. He told us of a well known case (reported in our country/state) of the Garibaldi poisonings where he had treated a then 9yo girl for the same illness and she had not survived... He said Miss P. Was at the same roadblock this other precious girl reached.... Despite their best efforts, miss p. was not winning this fight. He was preparing us for the worst.... Well I can tell you that, that is not possible... There is no way to prepare a parent of the possibility of a child (be it two legged or four, skin, fur or feathered) that they may grow their angel wings. Death was not an option.... We pushed our baby to the brink, encouraging her to fight, we made her fire up, get angry if she had to .... She lost so much blood, the parasite had penetrated her blood stream, it literally began to dissolve her internal systems! She lost so much fluid, minerals, salts and body mass... But she never lost her spirit! I love my girl to bits, Ive seen how powerful she is.... I have a lifetime to watch her blossom and live.
