Throwback Thursday, 8-Track Flashback Edition: As a child, I would often ride around town with my father Jim Gibson in a van he used to pick up and deliver television sets when he worked with my grandfather at Gibsons TV Appliances in Chester. The van was equipped with an 8-track tape player and this is one of the songs that was on one of those various artists compilations that was popular at the time. I always referred to this song as the paper towels song because I thought the words were, Oh towels, paper towels. I hadnt heard for years, but in 1986, Jason Shumate, Tony L. Blair, and I attended one of those reunion concerts featuring a bunch of 1960s groups. We actually got to meet Gary Puckett before the show. It was only during the concert, when he sang this song, that I recognized the tune and finally realized the words were, Lady willpower, its now or never.
