#ThrowbackThursday. Not a photo...but a memory. Not just a moment...but another lifetime all together. Its this time of year that always takes me back. A journey in thought, back to when I had all of the answers...mostly because there were no hard questions. Life was simple. It was exciting. It was new. Working a part time job, strictly to cover split bills and beer runs. Soaking up knowledge like a sponge, both in and out of the classroom. No cell phone. No social media. No worries. No cares. There were long days...and even longer nights. Sleep? Who needs it? Coming home to a house full of great pals, a nickle-ante poker game, and a cold drink (or twelve) EVERY night. Meeting people and making friends. Shared interests...shared activities...with similar peers of a common mindset. Life was a party...literally. When did I change? Or a better question: WHY did I change? Bank accounts, investments, careers, responsibilities. Only self-created chains of bondage, made of misplaced ideals and dirt. Working late, going to bed early. What a total disrespect for time, and the irreplaceable value it provides. How have I become such a fool? It has now become painfully apparent...I havent gotten smarter through the years, Ive gotten dumber. If I had been smart, I would have found a way. A way to keep enjoying life the way I did then. A time when the excitement of my existence was unfolding before my very eyes. A time when I didnt bother to look 10 years down the road. It didnt matter. I didnt care. However, this is just a Throwback post. The years HAVE gone by. Time DOESNT stand still. And tonight its just me...this big old moon...and a few fond memories. Memories that still make me smile. Stories that still make me laugh. Bring on the weekend. A special weekend. Homecoming 2014.
