Throwing this out there, take it as you wish. The other day I put up a status about how even though it was a great day I couldnt shake a sadness, depression is difficult. I was asked why I needed to post that and told some things dont need to be public and I was just seeking attention. So I deleted it, but I shouldnt have felt like I had too. The truth of it is though I am seeking attention, not for me as an individual who wants people to pity me but as a way to end the stigma. People think that those who are depressed have obvious signs, that its nobody you know and that just because someone can smile and laugh in front of you means they are fine. Depression can affect anybody regardless of age gender or orientation ethnicity or anything else. I think today is fitting to bring awareness once again to Veteran depression as the amount of Veterans who have taken their own life has now surpassed the amount killed in action. When thanking the Veterans in your life today make sure they know they are cared about and where to turn if they ever need help.
