Thunderbird Mens Basketball Enjoys Record-Setting Weekend It was an exciting weekend for T-Bird Mens Basketball. On Friday, the team hung on for an exciting 2-point victory over fellow Division II Region 13 member Gogebic CC out of Michigan, winning 95-93 behind Keshan Spears 34 points and Josh Booones 25 points and 13 rebounds. Saturday, 2 overtimes were needed to settle the final outcome as UTTC hosted Division I and nationally ranked Gillette College out of Wyoming. The back-and-forth game featured 14 lead changes and 21 ties including a furious comeback by the T-birds late in regulation after trailing 100-111, finishing in a regulation time score of 116 all. The game was likely a record-setting individual performance for sophomore Josh Boone. Boone enjoyed a career night, scoring 54 points on 19-27 overall shooting, including 5-7 from the three-point line and made 11 of 13 free throws. This is likely the all-time UTTC record for most points in a game. As we head to semester break, the mens team finished the first half with an overall record of 11-4 with all four losses coming to NJCAA Division I teams with two of the games overtime and one other by 2 points in our first game of the year.
