Thursday 12/4/14 Update: Dave seemed to be more alert and responsive today than compared to yesterday. He also was talking a little bit more today, but difficult to understand. All of the nurses and drs that came by were pleased to see him a bit more with it. He was able to follow commands a little bit today as well. He had his eyes open longer today as well and then started to go in and out as the day went on. He is also getting physical therapy. His stats and breathing are still steady and continues with no fever. Did an MRI last night and they were able to tell he still has quite the infection going and everything else appeared to be ok. Drs are a bit perplexed, as his neurological recovery is coming along slowly but still tackling the sugar level and white blood cell count. They are continuing to monitor him closely, doing repeated tests to check his progress. They continue to tell me how challenging this infection can be and due to the nature of the organ, difficult to attack easily. They also assure me that it is normal to wax and wane during this process. So it looks like he will continue to be in ICU for some time. They love him and I adore all the drs and nurses so far. He is right in front of the main station, so I am constantly entertained by the staff and getting to know their names, routines, and also the other patients conditions and family members. Quite a people watching event, makes the time go by quickly. Continued prayers please.....until tomorrow......
