Thursday 15 January Hi all – just a quick catchup and headsup - TopicsExpress

Thursday 15 January Hi all – just a quick catchup and headsup on what has come back in and is due to arrive this week or early next. The Peplars black raspberry vinaigrette and pomegranate ginger vinaigrette is back in and ready for summer slurping. Peter Timbs new batch of chorizo arrived this morning – keep us going for another month or so. The Havoc bacon fridge is bare for the first time in 9years! I even left the light turned off BUT it should all be here again by the end of the week. Sausages are a bit scares but I put the order in so we’ll see what actually arrives. Not much packet ham but I think a few packets are coming as well. **It all arrived this morning.** I had a ring from Sous Chef this morning to say that the Spanish choccy figs are being sent out today. I have a couple of customers who still wanted the gift packs in January so they are still coming plus the loose bulk. All good things come to those who wait. Just arrived now is the new Mash Tun crackers – in 3 flavours! I was surprised because I thought there was only one but now there is Pilsner, Pale Ale and Porter and dammit I wish I could taste the samples! (more on why I can’t later in em) If you remember, the Mast Tun crackers are made from the spent barley from Tuatara beer making and they are fabulous little crackers, perfect with a beer but not limited to just beer! Pop ‘em like chips! Crunchy as. Finally, the olives are back in the country and I hope that the green, black and mixed arrive by the end of the week so I can get them under marination. Sorry, you can’t have any until they are ready in 3 weeks but we can give you a taste if you really must have them sooner. Up to you on that one. Also coming from this deli importer is Italian salami – milano, felino, Sopressa and a couple more flavours to cover garlic and pepper. Also flat strips of pancetta. A Provisions top up has arrived – the nectarine chutney, the cherry chutney, cherries in pinot noir syrup, apple jelly gem, pear chilli chutney plus sumac relish. Pure Delish choc primal bites and gingernuts for grownups are also back in plus the cardboard box version of the salted caramel popcorn cos the big bags aren’t in stock for a while ‘cos one bloke bought them all! The box is a bit smaller and a bit cheaper than the bag. Yes, I know, I have to yet do orders for She Chocolate decadent dates etc and a few other things, but I can’t get it all at once because I have to earn the money to buy more and that’s where you come in! LOL Now, why can’t I taste the crackers? Well, I suppose I can but I am wary, very very wary. Last few years have had a few problems with gallstones and gallbladder attacks, altered diet before Xmas to cut down on trigger foods but Xmas means you do add that bit of cheese or cream or extra glass of bubbly or a coffee a day instead of one a week ergo New Year’s Eve, the gallbladder went into meltdown and I suffered continuous attacks for 5days till Sunday ending in a gallbladder infection ERGO it is being taken out on Monday 19th. Yesterday was my first day back at work and Friday my last for a couple of weeks. I couldn’t be happier having it out – freedom as last. Everything I eat at the minute feels like Russian roulette because last week, everything set off attacks. Mainly on fruit and veg, juice and water. Chris and Phil will be personing the shop and trying to make the money that keeps paying the bills that let us stay here and titillate you with the latest and the best. (Please don’t stop coming just ‘cos I’m not here – it does happen, I know not why! We’re here for you and no, we aren’t lining our pockets at your expense either – it’s all for you, if you want it. They day you don’t, we go. Simple.) I lost ¾ stone last week the hard way – but I’ll also take it, thanks! ;-) So that’s it for a few more weeks from me. I’m sure Phil remembers how to whack out a newsie should he need/want to so until then, ciao babes. Oh, and all soup donations kindly received next week! LOLOLOL I know there are some fantastic soup makers out there and a couple have offered their services and I am not too proud to take up their offers either. Doesn’t need to be bland – just lighter on the fat while my lovely liver makes the change. I need to learn how to make fab salads that aren’t boring and titillate the taste buds. Plenty to study!
