Thursday, 3:15 p.m I aarived at the office of a Pa State Rep. The mission--to acquire a small Pa State flag for the posting of same at the grave of the late wildlife Conservation Officer (Game Warden) David Grove. David was killed on Nov 10, 2010 in what is best described as the fight of his life. In all he emptied all 30 rounds from his .50 caliber as 2 or more armed assailants gunned him down--and riddled his patrol truck with more then 65 bullets..and he being struck several times and the last two shots were fatal to his neck and head. However, in just 3 years, HE-has been forgotten by those who employed him. I asked for a Free flag..and got a run around. The clerk cited--we have to file a request and yadda yadda yada...as several flags were adoring her and the desks of 2 co-workers. I asked for one and denied. We must file a request to Harrisburg..and then alert the flag maker and then when it comes in--if approved. well contact you HEY HUNEY--in your ear.. I asked fro a FREE Flag.. SO give me one of the several .. This clerk then kept repeating the same old same old. finally with no luck ...I departed. So, as a last ditched effort I wrote a message on the Facebook page of the Pa Game Commission , of this GOD AWFUL woman and my plight. As I discussed this not only with my wife, my employer , several co-workers and neighbors.. , the general concession was that elected Officials and their over paid moron staff members was a waste of my energy. NOTE--you can NOT purchase a State Flag in PA. because they are FREE , since our tax dollars pay for them. update: Today-- 0830 hours. my cell phone rings.. Its the State reps Office.. Asking me to stop by the office and receive the flag. So, to make the best of it.. i stopped and had all the staffers gathered as I told them about how i came to know all of district Game Wardens, all the way back to their Grand Pappys who wore the badge when I was a teenager, and we all hunted together. i ended with.. these men and women who serve as Wildlife Conservation Officars--Game or fish Wardens are the unsung heroes of Law Enforcement. They get paid nearly nothing, and many are receiving State & Federal aid --just o get by. David was the exception.. He was loved and respected by EVERYONE.. Including those he arrested and stood along the route of his Funeral procession.. And--he was my FRIEND. In 5 or 10 years from now..someone will pass his headstone and ask-- I wonder how he died... Hopefully, a few of us will still be around to say.. HE WAS KILLED by an idiot with a gun --who at his trial stated.. Oh-I didnt know a Game Warden was a COP . I think this is why the killer is awaiting his fate with the needle. Id like to be present to say-- YOU KILLED ANOTHER HUMAN BEING.. Tomorrow , that Flag will be posted as a small toke on appreciation and remembrance of man who taken from us all.
