Thursday, 31st October 2013, Marsabit Hundreds of tourists have started flocking into the County as the run up to the Total Eclipse of the sun draws closer. This Thursday morning, a fleet of vehicles was flagged off from Nairobi carrying local and foreign tourists eager to witness this historical event that will be clearest in Sibiloi National Park within Marsabit County. The tourists are expected to spend in Marsabit Town tonight, before heading to Sibiloi through North Horr Town (where theyll spend their second night). The Eclipse shall happen between 4.25 pm and 6.27pm on a belt that passes through Equatorial Guinea, Uganda, Ethiopia and Somalia. However, the Total Eclipse, which will only last about 15 seconds, is expected to be clearest at Sibiloi. Other parts of the County are expected to experience mild sights of the eclipse, which occurs when the moon travels between the Sun and the earth, hence partially, or completely, blocking the suns rays from reaching the earth. Marsabit County has been blessed with this extra-ordinary Scientific occurrence, which happens only once in a generation. The Total Solar Eclipse was last experienced 40 years ago - on 30th June 1973 - where people in Loiyangali had the best view. The County is also credited with the oldest skull of a human being, and is famously referred to as the Cradle of Mankind. Ends.
