Thursday 4th July ~ REJECT THE NEGATIVE “…blind Brtimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging”. (Mark 10 vs 46). That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional Today. Our Focal Scripture introduces a blind man who was called the son of Timaeus. The name ‘TIMAEUS’ is interpreted to mean ‘HONOUR’. So, blind Bartimaeus was actually ‘blind son of honour’. He was the son of ‘Honour’, yet his situation wasn’t honourable. His descent was positive, but his situation was negative. His life was an irony, with positives and negatives existing side by side. Notice that when Jesus showed up, He restored the sight of Bartimaeus. Jesus showed up and performed a miracle that took Bartimaeus away from dishonour. Jesus showed up and removed the negative that stood side by side with the positive. When it seemed that the life of Bartimaeus was a mixture of positives and negatives, Jesus showed up and took the negatives away. Like Bartimaeus, we often experience the irony of positives existing side by side with negatives. God’s Word often says something positive about us, yet our situation says something negative. Sometimes, we hear goodnews and the next thing we hear is bad news. We often have cause to laugh, soon after pain begins to knock on our doors. In one moment, we dwell in abundance, yet in the next moment, our problems become more abundant. Friend, hear this: God is showing up right now to remove every negative in your destiny. God is showing up to remove every circumstance in your destiny that is contrary to His Word concerning you. God is showing up right now to deal with everything that is a deviation from His plans and promises concerning you. Proverbs 10 vs 22 summarises it thus, “The Blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it”. Pray with me, “Lord, I reject every negative situation in my life in Jesus name”.
