Thursday 8th August – Arsenal daily transfer rumours and news round up Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has declared that the Gunners are prepared to play the waiting game to land Suarez and declared yesterday, “At the moment the situation is on standby. I really don’t know what will be decided by Liverpool, that’s for sure.” However, the Daily Star shares that they have inside information that the Gunners are prepared to go higher if necessary to land Suarez, and are ready to break the British transfer record and pay £51m to bring Suarez to the Emirates this summer. North London side Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on old flame, Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan. According to reports in The Daily Mirror, the Gunners might be willing to part with £20m, for the services of the German midfielder. Arsenal would however find it tough to prise Gundogan away from Signal Iduna Park, with the player asserting his commitment to Dortmund again and again. Former Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea midfielder Yossi Benayoun, who was released by the Chelsea at the end of last season, might decide to move to Major League Soccer. Benayoun told FIFA: “I’ve had approaches from teams in Europe and the United States. MLS could be an interesting experience. [I have] enough energy left to carry on playing at the top level and help the national team to rise to the next challenge.” Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue joining North London side Tottenham Hotspur, is an almost certain possibility, according to the French club’s President Olivier Sadran. The boss was quoted telling RMC: “He will go there [White Hart Lane].” Meanwhile, the Spurs are expected to shell around £11m, for the Frenchman, who has also been of the radar of clubs like Arsenal, Cardiff City and QPR this summer.
