Thursday August 28th 2014 Help us Name our Newest Officer Chief John Hagarty and the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service are happy to introduce you to our newest rookie officer. Pending a medical examination and successful completion of a comprehensive training program, we have selected a dog to relieve Rock, our present police services dog, of his duties. This young dog is 16 months old, and of Czech Republic bloodlines. He will be trained as a general purpose police services dog in tracking, article searches, criminal apprehension, handler protection, drug detection, and area searches. The City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service wish to thank the Kawartha Animal Hospital, Nutro foods, Victoria Feeds Horse and Hound and our community for their continued support of our K9 program. Constable Watson will be present at Victoria Feeds Horse and Hound on Saturday September 6th from 11am – 4pm for their customer appreciation day with both Rock and our newest addition. Anyone wishing to meet both dogs can do so at Victoria Feeds. We are asking for the community’s assistance in naming our newest member. Those wishing to submit a potential name and it’s significance, can do so here via facebook/kawarthalakespolice. Potential names will be accepted until Saturday September 6th. The dogs name will be announced on Monday September 8th.
