Thursday, August 7, doors open at 4pm. Happy Hour, $5 at the door. No advance tickets! @ 6:30pm: The Whiskey Sisters are going to be rockin the house in a big way every Thursday! The Whiskey Sisters is a co-chick fronted rock/blues/country band! Teal Collins (The Mother Truckers) and Barbara Nesbitt (Tim Flannery & The Lunatic Fringe) met in Austin and decided to get together to sing a tune or two. By the time they reached the first chorus harmonies they knew it was going to be a good thing. They have been working hard to form their new band, The Whiskey Sisters, which is a sound like nothing else youve heard. Joined by crack musicians, they are going to take the world by storm. Late Show, $10 at the door. No advance tickets! @ 10:00pm: Slowtrain is a fantastic rock band built around a foundation of piano, organ, soulful vocals and crackling guitars. I @ 11:15pm: A. SINCLAIR (formerly Frank Smith) Aaron Sinclair, Ben Lance, Benjamin Houtman, Jud Johnson, Brendan Bond, and Michael Booher are A. Sinclair. Its hard to keep up with Aaron Sinclair. For one, hes one of the most prolific songwriters in town and one whom consistently puts out quality and profound music. Since he arrived in Austin in 2006, Sinclair has been one of those rare songwriters that never seemed to falter or disappoint. For as great of a band as Frank Smith was, its refreshing to see Sinclair with the confidence and poise to rest on his own moniker and reputation as such. His newest work from the upcoming EP Pretty Girls isnt too drastic a departure from what we heard on Frank Smiths Nineties LP. The newest single Shiny Things is full of the same effortless and casual muttering of great lines that sometimes take a few listens to settle in and affect you. ~Deli Magazine. @ 12:00am (midnight): WHAT MADE MILWAUKEE FAMOUS has been a stalwart of the Austin music scene since their inception in 2003. The three original members, Michael Kingcaid (vocals, guitar, keyboards), John Farmer (bass), and Jason Davis (guitars, vocals), each bring a diverse range of influences to the table, allowing them to seamlessly shift between genres at the drop of a hat. With the release of their first two records, Trying to Never Catch Up and What Doesnt Kill Us on Seattles Barsuk imprint, the band has been touted for their abilities to channel strong musicianship and diverse song-writing into instantly, addictive hooks. Their elegant pop (Billboard) has landed them on the bill at a number of the mammoth festivals including Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Sasquatch, SXSW and Lollapalooza, highlighted by a taping on PBSs prestigious Austin City Limits with Franz Ferdinand. They have also shared the stage with the likes of Arcade Fire, The Black Keys, The National, Snow Patrol, The Walkmen, TV on the Radio, and the Pretenders to name a few; a testament to their musical diversity and mutual respect with other artists in the industry.
