Thursday Devo. I recently (as some know and prayed) Had the experience of intervening for a friend that drank his belongings, his job, his relationships, even his fishing poles.... till all had been lost. He has had this problem before, and knew when he started drinking again he would be drinking his rent money, and soon would lose it all. Being straight for five years, I watched him save his money, work hard, and grow. I found myself in a situation, as I said before trying to decide weather to hit him a 2 x 4 or clean up the vomit. All the while God was teaching me about pride, my pride not his. My pride said you Idiot, why didnt you listen to sound counsel, you deserve everything you get, if I have to be responsible you do to, I have worked hard, against the odds and have become responsible, why shouldnt you? I found myself cringing while at the walmart while he was choosing a pillow I was buying for him that cost a few bucks more and was twice the quality. One of the only possessions he will have for the next 10 months in rehab. I had to ask myself what makes me think I deserve anything, most of the time my synapses dont fire just like his because of the residue of the sin in my life. Would it be love to let a kid run in the street because we have told them time and time again? We are not the judge, We are all the same We all fall short of the glory of God. Romans 5: 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. I came across this quote : Tullian Tchividjian Isnt it ironic that while Gods treatment of us depends on Christs performance, our treatment of others depends on their performance? We are all guilty, so help the guilty..
