Thursday Evening Update on Randy: August 7... We are still on - TopicsExpress

Thursday Evening Update on Randy: August 7... We are still on track, where we should be, numbers doing what they do at this point: drop. This weeks two lab visits are pretty uneventful. Randys counts today were, as expected, low and he is again neutropenic. This is all totally normal according to our UAB nurses ( I called them...weve become very good friends!) and they are pleased with where he is. There was no need for blood products this week, but those white blood cells are gone! This is what chemo does: kills the bad, but the good suffers too! Randy is feeling good overall and continues to eat really well. I think the big news for this week is that he is driving!!!! Only twice, but still it just feels good seeing him progress!! Specific prayers are needed for: this weekend especially, that he will not get sick or fever or any complication while his numbers are so low. Also pray for multiplied calories to increase his weight, and that his counts will normalize by Mondays lab visit. Always remember his mind and emotions...its crucial that he remain strong!! It occurs to me as we slowly watch this progressive miracle that God doesnt always heal in the moment; He may choose to heal in more of a process type of approach. Therefore, it would be easy for some to say, well thats not God. Its blah blah blah. Some may say its medicine or advanced knowledge or new techniques. And I would agree...But that isnt all there is... There is a Component to this that we are experiencing that is ALL GOD. For example, while we are going through the typical chemo process, Randy continues to have supernatural protection from any adverse side effects!! This weeks Neulasta shot was expected to bring deep bone pain...but none here!!! We are just thrilled that Randy is taking these meds with no adverse complications!! Praise The Lord!! He alone is worthy! My mind also turns to a passage in Mark 8, where Jesus asks a very pointed question, after his disciples saw miracles, He asks, Who do people say that I am? And they answered with variety. Then He hits it on the head: But you. Who do you say that I am? No matter what credit the world gives, theres only one answer. Peter answers correctly: The Messiah. And its Truth. And He, for another thing, is a Healer...and He is doing His work, His way, in His time. Blessings from Woodbank!
