Thursday, January 30, 2014 Matthew 26:69-74 please read THOUGHTS: Denial! Ill never do that. Well, thats exactly what Peter said. Yet, here we are at the fire at Caiaphas house. Peter had boldly cut off Malchus ear--Jesus restored it. He runs when the others run--but, he comes back (although keeping his distance). Now, hes confronted with an opportunity to speak boldly for Christ--he denies...not once, not twice, but 3 times. The cock crows and its all over! Well, no! We would do well to read parallel passages. This instance in Peters life is recorded in all 4 Gospels. But, Luke 22:55-62 records a little more of the story. Not only did Peter remember the Words of Jesus about denial, in Luke it says (v61), And the Lord turned and looked upon Peter. I dont know about you, but that sends a sharp pain to my chest. Now, imagine Jesus pain. ACTIONS: Do you habitually (or maybe only once) DENY the Lord? Confess it, ask for forgiveness and repent of it--NOW. No matter what youve said; no matter what youve done. Theres nere a good reason for denying Gods Son. When you least expect it the devil does his work. You begin to deny as the Lords work you shirk. My child stop denying by word, thought or deed. Peter hurt His Master...His Word he didnt heed.
