Thursday Morning Update:: October 23, 2014::: Good Morning Sullivan County !!!! What a week this has been ! Oh My ! Started with a whirlwind Sunday for John Drobysh and his sister Mary Ann Drobysh-Berens who were kind enough to travel countywide to fetch tons of lovely donations from various donors. Thank you John Knoll, Krystle Hanratty. Nancy McLain, Barbara Lerner and Eugene Palley for all you have done to help our friends and neighbors! All week long , people contacted me for clothing pickups, thank you Emily McNamara, Janice Kadan, and Jody Gozza and whoever I forgot to mention, please forgive my oversight, so much to keep in my old scrambled brain ! I do try to get it right but sometimes I forget things. Which brings me back to yesterday:: Oh what a day ! I A DOOZIE as my Dearly Departed Nana would say !! I started out by accidentally insulting a person whose friendship I value, followed by a long day of waiting for a truck rented by one of our admins (no fault of hers, had to wait at HD) Shalyn Harris thank you for facilitating that need and following through. Shalyn is our youngest Admin, has been with us from day one and is a shining example of what young modern women can and should be !! ..........So THEN , missed my visit with my niece and her baby ! Got home late only to realize that I had forgotten to deliver a bed to a very nice young lady who had taken off from work to meet me. The bed is for her little girl and I promised. SO, she lost money because she took off from work and she still has no bed !!! We will remedy this over the weekend. FOR SURE !! All I can do is apologize to you Patty Butterfield and assure you that I will speak to John Drobysh and he will deliver this to you at your convenience over the weekend. ........................And that was yesterday ! Lets hope I get today right !! Tomorrow , there will be a bake sale at the Gov Center in Monticello, sponsored by the Committee for the Alice Kreiter Sr Citizens Prom. Hot lunch, Sandwiches, lots of dandy cakes , cookies and other assorted baked good will be offered. Please stop by and support this effort ! See you there ! If you would like to back and donate the baked goods, please drop off by 10 am in the lobby of the Gov Center !! And now, I will say goodbye to you for a while ! I am leaving Saturday for a 2 week vacation (MUCH needed I assure you !) and while I am gone, we will not be accepting donations nor will we be filling requests other than stone cold EMERGENCIES ! This means you have no food, fire, stuff like that !! PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR THINGS WHILE I AM GONE !! Although there are many of us to help you, there is only one me and thats just the way it is ! IF you must contact us, try Julie Sandoval, Crystal Davis Anna Altbach . they will guide you if they can, but will not accept donations or fill standard needs. Please respect this request friends ! If you are a Foxcroft Resident and feel you can;t wait till I get back , contact Jackie Murphy . And last, if you need someone to talk to , or a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen, please contact Cheryl Dunstan or Wendy Sipos or Author Patrick Lorcan Woods, they are special people and will be happy to listen to your problem and guide you if possible. So thats it ! We will be in operation for a few weeks in November when I return and then going on Hiatus DEC 1 for a few winter months. This is do to the fact that it is too dangerous for me (64 yrs of age) and as a matter of fact, for any of out people to be hauling and schlepping and dragging stuff around the county on the icy roads and sidewalks. We will be back in March, as we were last year, ready again to help our neighbors and friends here in SC ! TOGETHER WE HAVE MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF MANY HERE IN SULLIVAN COUNTY NY AND I AM VERY VERY PROUD OF US !
