Thursday November 14, 2013 - President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday appointed former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, as a Kenyan diplomat who will resolve the ongoing stalemate in the East African Commission (EAC). Although his appointment was secretly carried out by the Head of State, Raila Odinga on Wednesday hit the ground running and jetted out to Entebbe, Uganda where he met Uganda President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. During the three- hour meeting , the two leaders agreed to engage the leadership of Kenya, Rwanda and Burundi to ensure the EAC moves forward with all its members by addressing concerns of each member state. Mr Odinga and President Museveni expressed hope that a consensus could be reached ahead of the EAC summit that will take place in Kampala at the end of this month. President Museveni also asked Mr Odinga to seek audience with the other leaders to bridge the gap and prepare ground for talks before the summit. Last week, Raila begged a job from Uhuru of resolving the EAC stalemate and it seems he has been offered the job after being jobless for close to a year.
