Thursday, September 18, 2014 Todays Gospel: Lk 7:36-50 The Pardon of the Sinful Woman. Her many sins have been forgiven; hence, she has shown great love. Reflection: Simons (a pharisee) self-righteousness and sense of entitlement make him overlook giving Jesus the customary ritual courtesy due to a special guest. In contrast, the sinful woman gives Jesus a first-class treatment. She washes Jesus feet with her tears, dries them with her hair, and kisses them and anoints them with expensive perfumed oil. Jesus says that because her many sins have been forgiven, she shows great love. We should not let our sins hinder us from coming to Jesus. When we acknowledge our sinfulness, we will appreciate his forgiveness. Amen. Let us pray for humility and courage.
