Thursday afternoon I had Jehovahs Witness come to my door. It was cold outside and I invited them in. I politely refused their literature. It was new and they had a nice streamlined looking logo. Very different from the old Watchtower material. That was plain and looked like a little blue book that said LIFE and a little red book that said GRACE. I shared my faith and quoted Scripture. They shared theirs and quoted Scripture and quotes and visions from their founder, Charles Taze Russell. I noted that the founders vision did not comport with the Bible. They said that his authority changed the Bible by superceeding it. After they left I reminded myself of something that you should know. When a religion used extra-Biblical authority they have slipped over into the category of deviant religion, perhaps even cults. Be careful of anyone who takes an authority outside Scripture. Some religions today, and TV preachers say by their actions, I dont care what the Bible says, this feels right. Beware of extra-Biblical sources of authority whether written or stated. When a religion ascribes to thes they have shown themselves to be false.
