Thursday afternoon and early Thursday evening, there will be a threat of severe weather southeast of a line from Texarkana to Hot Springs to Hardy. I expect that we will see at least a few severe thunderstorm warnings become necessary for large hail and damaging winds. Most rainfall amounts will be in the 1/4 to 3/4 inch range. It appears that a greater threat of severe weather will exist Sunday afternoon and evening, mainly over the western half of Arkansas. Large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes look to have a good chance of occurring. The evolution of storms on Sunday will play a big role in severe weather chances for Monday. At this point, it looks like Mondays severe weather threat will be over the eastern two-thirds of the state, but this area is still subject to change. Suffice it to say, we will see some severe weather and heavy rain in the state sometime in the Sunday/Monday time frame. Many places will pick up 1 to 2 inches of rain, and there will probably be some totals exceeding 3 inches. I will issue the next message on Thursday morning.
