Thursday morning mancave report, dang near overslept again ! I dont know whats going on, I kinda opened my eyes around 430 then I rolled over and waited on the alarm but I set it for tue and not Thursday. Good thing the daylight came creeping in to lend a hand. The real reason I was slow to get up is probably because I wound up chasing cows back up and down the toad last night till after ten. This always happens whenever I do a thoughtful deed or something. Me and Karla started over to Gages store yesterday eve we thought mom might like to get out since she hasnt in awhile. So we went over and loaded her up and took over to Krooked Kreek for a couple of chicken strips (its the simple things in life ) and a glass of tea. When we got back Karla suggested a short walk, as we are walking im noticing cow and calf tracks in the road. Im hoping they arent mine but of course they are. My cows are belly deep in grass and for some reason they will walk a mile to eat the weeds along the road. Ive heard the grass is always greener on the other side, I guess its true. We started the cows back (they must have ran yo that far down the road), of course they dont go back the way they came, I dont know cow body language but one of the heifers must have given the sign for SCATTER! Cause they did. Had them almost home and I got in the truck tired of walking by now and its dark besides, (not scared mind you, just speedier and has lights) . Well , I managed to get half back down the road but the other three disappeared ? I looked and looked and couldnt find them, couldnt figure out where they went. They had just been next to the barn when I drove the others up to moms? Finally I wondered if they went back to where I first found them, yep thats where they were, again they must have run all the way back to where they started. The security team was a lot if help, running along the fence and watching the cows go by. Iguess they only bark at them and aattempt to herd the strays if the strays are in their yard or drinking out of the pool. Herding black cows at night, who needs tv ? Stay warm
