Thursday move of the week (I realize its Saturday). This one is a simple one mechanically speaking but it packs a wicked punch for all the muscles you cant see; those ever important back muscles. This is a superman with resistance bands. BandS- one looped around the feet and the other looped around the mid forearm. How to: lie face down on a mat, arms and legs outstretched. Take a deep breath in and lift arms and legs as far off mat as possible, as if they are being pulled up by strings from the ceiling. As you lift, aim to separate the arms from one another and the legs from one another, working against the resistance of the bands. This extra push hits the shoulders hard and gives the outside of those glutes a serious burn. Do not throw your head back when you lift; it should remain aligned with your spine. If you have a weak back or lower back issues, do not lift arms and legs simultaneously but rather alternatingly. Hold in the up position for two seconds, exhale and release. Thats one rep. Aim for 15-20.
