Thursdays thought.... Who has better control over their off lead dog. Is it the owner who has to repeatedly yell at their dog to come back which although does eventually result in a successful recall there is a massive time delay and the eventual recall is very slow, as what dog wants to return to an angry owner? Or the owner that can quietly request their dogs speedy return as on arrival at the owners side the dog is rewarded with treat? I prefer the latter, my dogs prefer the latter and if you and your dogs do too make sure you always use reward based training and behavioural techniques. Allow your dog to learn because they want to not because they have to. This thought is written by the team at Pets in Practise, where positivity and determination works.
