For the high school kid who gets their driver’s license and keys to a car. Remember that? When you drove for the first time, by yourself?! FREEDOM! First day in college. No parents around. FREEDOM! That first paycheck cashed. Finally your own money to spend it any way you want. Now, as you said when you were 12, McD’s for every meal! FREEDOM! We are so blessed to have those who have given up their own lives that we may be free. They spilled their blood that we may be free to choose. Freedom comes at a steep price. Adam and Eve gave up their freedom, our freedom, to be in bondage of the flesh. We all have been enslaved, unfree from the enemy. Jesus pleaded to the Father. Deeply troubled and in anguish. He prayed more fervently, and He was in such agony of spirit that His sweat fell on the ground like great drops of blood. “Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from Me. Yet I want Your will to be done, not Mine” – Luke 22: 41-43 Who the Son has set free is free indeed – John 8:36 You are free from your own self. Self-ishness Self- preservation Self – destruction Self – inflicted Self – indulgent Self – centered Self – analysis Self –annihilation Self – aggrandizement Self – consciousness Self – critical Self – deprecatory Self – distrust Self – esteem Self – reproach If you surrender it to Him, He will give you freedom. The enemy has come to steal, kill and destroy. But, I have come to give them LIFE, LIFE ABUNDANTLY. – John 10:10 Intentionally, ON THIS INDEPENDENCE DAY……and every day…. Give up your freedom and be FREE
