Thus far my policy with the Secret app has been ignore it and wait - TopicsExpress

Thus far my policy with the Secret app has been ignore it and wait for it to go away. However, every day I see more and more people engaging in this foolish hurtfulness, so let me say this: Hurt people hurt people. We can say that trashing people anonymously is cowardly, weak, immature, etc., and its all true, but that doesnt actually help the root cause. On one hand, the LGBT community can be a place of incredible compassion, chosen family, and nurturing. I believe we possess those attributes because in the face of suffering, we have chosen love and healing. At the same time, some who have been wounded, disregarded, kicked out, and hurt have only learned to recreate the patterns of their abusers. And so yes, the LGBT community can also be a place of cattiness, cruelty, and petty, hurtful comments. The fact is, the people acting that way deserve and need compassion and healing. If you believe, as I do, that we will reap what we sow, then join me today in finding some way to be loving and supportive to a fellow human. It could be a random act of kindness. It could be a donation to an organization that provides peer counseling or therapy such as William Way LGBT Community Center and The Attic Youth Center. But it isnt enough to just say we refuse to be cruel; we must be kind. Let KINDNESS go viral instead of secrets.
