Tibiao town organizes Price Coordinating Council SAN JOSE, Antique, July 8 (PIA6) - - Mayor Gil Bandoja of Tibiao this province issued Executive Order No. 62 for the reorganization of Municipal Price Coordinating Council (MPCC) . Creation of Local Price Coordinating Council was mandated by Republic Act 7581 or the Price Act of the Philippines. Glen Fernando, Trade and Industry Development Specialist of DTI Antique conducted a briefing of the salient features of RA 7581 to the members of Tibiao Price Coordinating Council recently. He said that the law was enacted to provide protection to consumers by stabilizing prices of basic necessities and prime commodities and by prescribing measures against undue price increases during emergency situations. DTI also explained the types of illegal acts of price manipulation, Automatic Price Control and Mandated Price Ceiling, Composition of Local Price Coordinating Council including its Powers and Functions, Measures to undertake during emergencies and the like. Fernando said DTI is continuously conducting the monitoring of prices and supply of basic and prime commodities in Tibiao and other major towns in the Province. The data on the prevailing prices were provided to the LGUs which will serve as their database. He also recommended that the MPCC shall maintain the database and update the same on a regular basis. Aside from manufactured products, Haydee S. Dalumpines, OIC Municipal Agriculturist committed to monitor agri-fishery products under the jurisdiction of the Department of Agriculture.
