Tick tock, deal or no deal? Time running out before tomorrows - TopicsExpress

Tick tock, deal or no deal? Time running out before tomorrows November 24th deadline, the behind-the-scenes drama at the Iran nuclear talks is ratcheting up here in Vienna. A flurry of activity and tension has seized the principal negotiators, Secretary of State John Kerry and his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif. Both scheduled flights out of Vienna over the weekend, then suddenly cancelled them, instead meeting face to face again and again. The two men have met in this round, no less than 5 times since thursday, with another meeting planned tonight. Secretary Kerry, who over this weekend said serious gaps remain, has especially been in a revolving door of meetings and phone calls with France, England, China, Russia and Germany, even rushing to the waiting plane of the Saudi Foreign Minister Saud Al Faisal who landed in Vienna this afternoon to meet him. Russias Foreign Minister Lavrov, whose deputy said would not come to Vienna until there was sufficient progress, is finally arriving, and the Chinese Foreign Minister is reportedly embarking on a 12 hour flight from Beijing, presumably because there is something afoot.
