Tidewater Virginia Historical Society Spring Lecture Series begins Sunday, February 15, 3pm in Lane Auditorium Bruton Heights, Colonial Williamsburg (special location this month!) Guest lecturer, Ed White, University of Virginia law graduate, and former State Assistant Attorney General joins us to enlighten us about Virginias Northern Neck. Virginias Northern Neck is the birthplace of George Washington and Robert E Lee, home to Francis Lightfoot Lee and Richard Henry Lee, and the site of such icons of early colonial architecture as Mount Airy, and Stratford Hall. Ed White, resident of the Northern Neck, will share more about the intriguing area in his lecture The Northern Neck - A Place Apart. White has resided in Kinsale, Westmoreland County, since 1997 where he serves as President, Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula. Inc. (a successor to the area APVA Preservation Virginia branch), is Director of the Northern Neck Historical Society, and serves as a director of several other area non profits. White is also author of three books: Kinsale the Middle Period, The War Between the States in the Northern Neck of Virginia and the Water Bounding It, and Lands and Lesser Gentry of Eastern Westmoreland County which will be available for purchase following the talk. The lecture will be an excellent introduction to our upcoming trip to the Northern Neck scheduled for March 26. PLEASE NOTE this lecture will be at a different location: Bruton Heights campus, Colonial Williamsburg in the Lane Auditorium Admission is free and open to the public. Reservations for the upcoming Thursday, March 26 Field Trip to the Northern Neck open on February 15. The trip will include visits to Mount Airy, Sabine Hall, Menokin, and a visit with lunch at historic St. Johns Church. Registration forms will be available at the Sunday lecture in Lane Auditorium.
