Tihanacu, (Tiwanaku) Spiritual center of Ancient Americas. I knew there was a culture/s that pre-dated the Incas in the Lake Titicaca area, but until seeing and connecting to this area I hadnt realized the importance, strength and longevity of the Tiwanaku culture. The archeological ruins date over 1,000 years BC, pre-dating the Incas by 2,500 years and lasting in various forms of evolution for about 2,000 years. The Tiwanakus did stone work which is precision-wise far superior than the Incas. (Which i found hard to believe even when i was looking at it in person) Their stone work was done with laser precision, small channels, tiny holes, super smooth surfaces (they feel as if they have been polished to perfection), corners that have razor sharp edges, and incredibly complex etched patterns. They have HUGE stones (over 300 metric tons) that had been moved over 40 miles across a serious mountain range and carved with unbelievable accuracy. They built one of the worlds largest ziggurats on the planet, as well as one of the largest monolith statues on the planet. They have a carved calendar and many other stories. The mystical power of this place was amazing. If it was in Peru it would be a major site on the tourist maps, but being in Bolivia its hardly known or excavated. We took over 500 photos of this place. I am definitely excited to go back to this place and also share what we have learned so far with others. Once more my psyche is being rearranged with the experiences.
