Tilapia nests viewed from the bridge over the Kalama Park muliwai, Kīhei. These are the redds of the introduced tilapia fish (Oreochromis sp). Females hold the eggs in their mouths until they hatch - called mouth brooding. Redds have also been observed from the bridge at the Palalua Outlet on the Keālia Coastal Boardwalk, and occasionally in the muliwai of the Kulānihākoi Gulch at Kaonoulu Street & South Kīhei Road.
