Till 2012, an app called instagram (just a simple photo clicking app) was available only for iPhone. Not everybody could afford an iPhone. Some found it expensive. Some found Android to be better for their usage. But iPhone had that status symbol. More than anything, it was the exclusivity which had made iPhone owners proud of their phones and since instagram was exclusive for iPhone, the app was adored by iPhone users and the app had become elitist. But in 2012, when instagram was released for Android users, iPhone users suddenly became insecure. They said Android is ruining the high quality instagram club (Google for iphone android ruining instagram to find out about it). iPhone users felt betrayed because even the cheap Android users could now use their elitist instagram app (Even those who had paid Rs 40K for a Galaxy S phone were perceived as cheap Android users). It had turned into a racial war with iPhone users giving all kinds of superficial reasons but the real reason was because they hated losing that exclusive elitist tag. #Budget2014
