Tim Burtons Sleepy Hollow. Its far less the German Expressionistic world of Batman, and yet... Everything has stone foundations, and wooden wall, and Dutch gables. And all the roofs slightly sag at the middle. Burtons world is one in which there is a lot of mud, a lot of mist, a lot of decrepitude. There are large numbers of poor people, but they are nothing but window dressing -- something to be passed by while you ride through town, holding a scented handkerchief to your nose. And the moral corruption.... extreme.
