Tim Cone says Purefoods has yet to peak: ‘We need to beat Ginebra, Alaska, San Miguel, Talk ‘N Text’ THE Purefoods Star Hotshots are in a roll, winning their last three games to climb back up to the middle of the pack with four games left in its elimination round schedule. Although the team has improved to 4-3, Tim Cone believes the surge isn’t a sign they are already finding their form. “Thank God we’re done with Ginebra, San Miguel and Alaska. That was really a tough, tough schedule. But I don’t think we’ve peaked yet,” Cone told InterAksyon in a telephone interview. “We need to beat the Ginebras, the Alaskas, the San Miguels and the Talk ‘N Texts to say that we’re already in peak form.” The team went through some early setbacks, losing three of its first four games. They also encountered some personnel issues, with sophomore forward Ian Sangalang suffering a major injury in their first game of the season. James Yap also had to sit out two games and the team had to wait before having Marc Pingris available to return after a bone-wearying stint with the Philippine national men’s basketball team. “Somehow we’ve got healthy bodies back in our squad and we’re playing in a groove.
