Tim Leiweke says he is not a hockey guy and there should be a hockey to lead this team. He says this is not a knee jerk reaction to the collapse and something they have been thinking about for awhile. Tim says The Leafs are a team that lacks direction and Brendan Shanahan is a leader as assistant and captain as a 3 time cup winner and a man who made playoffs 18 times. He has passion and work ethic and a fan of the game and a man who grew up and cheered the Leafs and wants to come back home and with his experience with NHL office. He is the BOSS and the board will support him. Brendan says today is his first day on the job and a lot of work to do and is committed to his position and says there is unbelievable potential with The Leafs. He has admired Dave Nonis and looking forward to working with him. He says he is ready to listen and learn and help Leafs become a winner. Nonis is fully supportive of bring Brendan in and says its all positive and a win win situation to have Shanahan apart of the organization. Brendan says there are some great aspects to this team but will find ways to improve the team. Sometimes success is just around the corner and he saw the Red Wings rebuild and is hopeful the Leafs will do the same and be a contender.
