Tim McCarthy asks what public policy issues are not being - TopicsExpress

Tim McCarthy asks what public policy issues are not being addressed at the state or local level. My answer is that I hardly know where to begin; virtually nothing of import is being addressed by US lawmakers; we are on the verge of economic and ecological collapse and nothing is being done. Green infrastructure, job creation (those two go hand in hand), free education and healthcare, student loan amnesty, mortgage reform (I would argue that the very foundations of the practice are appalling--that the actual cost of a home exceeds the price claimed by a considerable measure is, in Biblical terms, sinful), re-regulation of the financial industry, defunding the War on Terror, repealing the Patriot Act, and rebuilding the tax base. Many also addressed corn subsidies as a public health crisis (thanks again, Nixon).
