Tim in Tibet (part 3). We saddled up the horses and headed for high altitudes - above 4000 meters (12,000 ft), passing through beautiful meadows full of wildflowers, forests of rhododendrons and azaleas (an amazing pink forest in the spring), finally climbing above tree level to a wild, rainy, windy plateau where even the yaks dont stop because there is nothing to eat. This felt like genuine Tibetan wilderness. For two days, we saw not another soul, and indeed, I was the only foreign trekker in the whole region during this week - if not the month! Last picture of me in an orange raincoat shows Mt. Shika in the background. The following day, we climbed to the holy peak and discovered something completely unexpected on a 4500 M mountain top. Stay tuned for tomorrow!
