Time: 2:08am just got home from Providence and the first thing I want to do - is write this recap. While the memories are fresh and while the emotions are still high. By far, the most successful weekend for Star Athletics in Providence that we have ever had. As I said last week, the Northeast is home to some of the BEST all star gyms in the entire country and the caliber of competition at Athletic in Providence is one of the highest you will see all season long. The Star Athletics crew has been at it non stop these two weekends in Atlantic City and Providence and both weekends were a true success for our program. Providence Recap Senior White (Small Senior 3) - Although they finished 5th, they improved and raised our scores in several categories from the first day. We are still striving for that club zero routine and I know they will achieve this very soon. Senior White has a great spirit always who really takes corrections very seriously and applies them! Have no doubt SW will continue to practice hard and continue to add more difficulty and variety into their routine as the season progresses!! Junior White (Small Junior 2) - 2nd Place out of 10 teams! Its been quite a season thus far for Junior White coming off their huge win in Atlantic City, Grand Champion, and Paid Bid to The Summit - they came out on FIRE in Providence hitting 2 Routines of 0 Deductions!! Once again receiving incredibly high technique scores as they scored over a 97% for the 2nd weekend in a row. This team also takes judges comments very seriously and made so many improvements from day 1 to day 2, receiving outstanding remarks and comments from the judging panels including a perfect 5 out of 5 in performance score! Special shoutout to Junior White member Jade Salazar for receiving the A-Team award in Providence this weekend. She competed on Saturday although feeling very under the weather and really pulled through for her team! Senior Black (Large Coed 4) - 3rd Place of 3 teams. Rankings truly cannot define the heart and character of Senior Black this weekend. There are some moments that we as coaches are so blessed to witness. Parents, you would have been filled with so much pride and joy seeing Senior Black come together on day 2. From the early morning, into the late afternoon. They held their own players only meetings (no coaches) where they discussed specific parts of the routine that needed improvement, as well as how to mentally be in the zone on competition day. In addition, after a sub-par warm-up, the heart, passion, and leadership that poured out of them prior to taking the floor was simply incredible. I couldnt believe my own eyes or ears. All I kept saying to myself was, well, at least I know theyre taking the floor with heart and pride. Man was it incredible. When you endure hardship or struggle in life the easiest thing to do is give in, give up, and be let down. For the 2nd weekend in a row - NOT Senior Black as they truly represented Synergy = the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Honestly I could go on for hours, but if you were there - you saw their routine on day 2. And if youre on this team - you know. You just know. Senior Platinum (Small Senior 4.2) - 1st Place of 8 teams. WOW!!! Coming back from 2nd place on Day 1 to take the title! Back to Back 1st Place finishes for this team in very deep divisions!! Senior Platinum knows how to light up the stage, the crowd, and the judges. Competing at the very end of a long weekend (after 8:00pm on Sunday night) Senior Platinum showed their true passion and love for Star and each other. They came out on fire and hit a perfect club zero routine to finish out the weekend for Star Athletics!! Senior Red (Small Senior 5) - 3rd Place of 11 teams. An unforgettable weekend for this team without question!! Scoring a 96.1 on day 2, Senior Red truly understands the importance of timing, execution, and FIGHT when competing in this very tough division. Senior Red gave nothing away this weekend - fighting tooth and nail through both days of competition. Fantastic basket and tumbling technique both days receiving very very high scores in these categories. We have worked SO hard on conditioning, strength, and tumbling technique - and it truly showed and paid off this weekend when we received .9s in tumbling execution. I could not be more proud of these girls! And to top it off we earned an at large bid to The Cheerleading Worlds and you best believe Senior Red, as the judges said today, is well on their way to having a wonderful season!! So many proud and enjoyable moments that could never be captured simply by looking at results. The Star kids are passionate and determined. They win and lose with style and grace - they rise whenever they fall and they are true competitors. Thank you parents for helping us reinforce these qualities in our athletes - thus creating an unbreakable bond in which we call Star. S.T.A.R. We Are Star.
