Time A customer will commonly ask how long an engraving - TopicsExpress

Time A customer will commonly ask how long an engraving job takes. In the past I would state precisely how long the piece took. As I have progressed I find this question increasingly difficult to answer. Some of the problems I have with this question are listed here. First, when I do an item such as a wedding band and for example lets say that its in a generic design.... the first time I did the design it took three days for me to engrave. Next time, one day .... there were many things I needed to learn in order to engrave it just the way that I like it. Now, when I come back to that design it takes me half a day ... and at Christmas time when my chops are really honed it may only take me a couple of hours. Give me a years break since I last did one of that style and it may take me a day and a half again. So , if your following along you can see its very difficult for me to say how long it takes to engrave that piece. I did have a certain job that has followed that exact pattern. Mind you I never got the job down to an hour. It started at a five day engraving and now rests comfortably at seven hours. The quality has continuously improved along the way as well. I had a feeling that it would as I progressed. It only stands to reason that as the timing improves that its because Im learning better ways to engrave the item. As I improve Im able to focus more energy on the most important details.
