Time Saving Tips From a Busy Bird Spring can be a hectic time for a bird, what with the prospects of a lengthy migration and all the eating to fuel that flight. Well many birds, like this American Robin solve the problem by doing the molt in the fall but concealing the bright colors with duller feather tips which wear off (perhaps assisted with a bit of extra preening) as spring arrives. This male robin is well on the way to his spring glory but many pale tips still persist so he will be even brighter in a month or two, no molt required.
