Time for OHIO HISTORY CLASS. On this day in 1833 two ministers decided to start a school and town in Oberlin Ohio. Besides being the first college to accept black students and females and where some say the CIVIL WAR started ( in 1858 when the students help rescue an escaped slave that had been arrested) however we would like to note just a few of its notable alumni. As mentioned before William Goldman (novelist, screenwriter) but also James Burrows (creator of CHEERS and more), Thornton Wilder (novelist, dramatist OUR TOWN) Bill Irwin (clown, actor, the mail man father in THE GRINCH), the great John Cazale (Fredo in THE GODFATER), Ed Helms (THE OFFICE, and three movies with HANGOVER in the title), Julie Taymor ( who created the stage musical THE LION KING with all its spectacle) and three Nobel Winners. And many, many more. Keep up the good work Oberlin.
