Time for another Yoga Break cue! Soften your joints! Lets just get it out there: We dont mean go all loosey goosey. We do mean loosen up a little! Lets try it out - take Utkatasana! (That word just calls for an exclamation point, dont you think?) Now consciously direct your attention to relaxing your knees so that your muscles are in on the game. (Try it out on your ankles, too - when you unlock tension there, you can ground your feet like a boss!) Try the same exercise on your hips, relax the muscles around your hips while you take Uddiyana Bandha - this way, when the pit of your belly moves in and up, your pelvis has full mobility, and youll take pressure out of your lower back. Keep the inquiry going - what happens when you relax your shoulders? What about your elbows? Be in this place of exploration on your mat - what unlocks when you soften your joints? What areas then create more rigor, and which ones create more ease? Exploration is where your practice expands! Namaste!
