Time of Compassion My ministry has led me to walking with people in pain, offering; simple to be a presence to someone in despair, sharing with my street family in times of their confusion and uncertainty. This is not a time of happiness, or excitement, or great satisfaction, but it is a time rather of compassion: Compassion literally means “to suffer with”. I am not a psychologists or a social worker; I am however a theologian attempting to walk my faith in solidarity with them in their weakness, their broker’s and there suffering loneliness. Will you wake in Compassion with me? matthew (:9-13) 9 As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called Matthew, sitting in the tax collector’s booth; and He *said to him, “Follow Me!” And he got up and followed Him. 10 Then it happened that as [a]Jesus was reclining at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and [b]sinners came and were dining with Jesus and His disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, “Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?” 12 But when Jesus heard this, He said, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick. 13 But go and learn [c]what this means: ‘I DESIRE [d]COMPASSION, [e]AND NOT SACRIFICE,’ for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
