Time to get real! - I STUFFED UP! I was advised not to do this.. but given the fact that I am all for being upfront and I have always been an open book and believe in transparency... I am keen to hear your feedback and what youre doing to avoid this type of thing.. Would love to hear your advice & tips! In the last 3 months we have been so very very busy, working late most nights to ensure all of our contracts were on par, its seems like the last few months have been a complete blur, for a 6 week period several clients have had circumstances that have blown out what I personally anticipated would be a completion date. So in the process of getting work completed, on my planned business month. This 6 weeks has completely blown me out of the water. These dates were negotiated with the immediate clients however this meant that my timings were out, in order to get the clients developments completed and make room to focus solely on each new job I planned to take on. I left a massive gap! And to be really honest, I am pretty gutted, feeling pretty disappointed in my own form, but also that I let down others who were interested in working with my business. Tonight, its just been brought to my attention that a couple of our wonderful prospective clients have been waiting for quotes for developments that have been affected by this massive lapse in my time.. My notes say there are 2 of our fans who have been interacting with our page and supporting our business on facebook and have been patience enough to wait this massive period of time to received an outline of costing.. but have had to go elsewhere due to time constraints. So to those who have been effected by these latest events , I .. 1) want to formally apologise to both of those lovely ladies. 2) I know that I have missed out on an opportunity to build and support your businesses 3) I have let my own business and you down. Its not excuse, but I made the mistake of wanting to do each of my full quotes in one sitting, My quoting process is sometimes lengthy, I take the clients input and do my research, from there make a detailed list of the ideas I think would best suit the client, formulate the item list, put together pricing structure, write a proposal and present that and often a basic design sample to the client.. this sometimes can take me 2-4 hours.. I do this in most if not all case, but I have already spoken with the client and gauge a solid understand of their needs, ideals and budgets.. Its seldom Ill write up the paperwork and not meet my clients needs. I have only been knocked back on quotes twice since we started. So up until the last few weeks this has worked fine for me. So this is where you come in! Id love to hear from other business owners like yourself. I guess I wanted also ask what other business owners are doing to tackle the ongoing battle with juggling current clients and keeping up with your prospective clients... - not all of you are in the service business -nor are you all going to be selling your own time to craft their online businesses. But business is business and Id love to hear your feedback as to ways I could improve this, and also open up the conversation for others who would like some light shed on their business questions. Would love to hear from you: How do you deal with managing current clients and managing new clients? ensuring you cover all bases? Thanks lovelies!
