Time to get the right things done.A generation with a difference! GLOBINET Global Information Network {Creating Awareness! Doing what is Good, Just and Right!} P.O. Box 383, Bamenda Tel: 73631200; 94877866; 53831583 Email: globali04@gmail Subject: OPEN PETITION BY NDU, MBUM, DONGA MANTUNG AND FRIENDS OF THE PLIGHT OF NDU TEA ESTATE AND ITS SUPPOSED BENEFICIARIES To: THE AFRICAN COMMISSION ON HUMAN & PEOPLES’ RIGHTS; UN HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION; NATIONAL COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS & FREEDOMS, CAMEROON; INTERNATIONAL BODIES AND ORGANIZATIONS BASED IN CAMEROON etc Let the word go forth from this day and place ( October 1, 2014 at Ndu in Donga Mantung, NW of Cameroon) to friends and foe alike, that the torch of enlightenment, knowledge and freedom to inherit what is rightfully ours, has been lit and being passed to a new generation of Ndu citizens, born in this confusion, tempered by injustice and exploitation, disciplined by a hard and bitter endurance all these years, proud of our ancient heritage and unwillingness to witness or permit the slow but steady destruction of the Ndu economy and wellbeing of Ndu citizenry by the infamous and destructive privatization of Ndu Tea Estate to which we had our tentacles for survival for generations. This is no time for ease and comfort. It is the time to dare and endure. We know that what the government did by privatizing the Ndu Tea Estate in 2002 could have been the right thing, done the wrong way, and worse still, the wrong people got the control of the Tea Estate in Ndu. We are all witnesses to a lot of atrocities that have been registered these past 14 years since the Ndu Tea Estate fell into the hands of CTE. Its management has continuously and perpetually molested the workers, ex-workers, neighbors and residents of the Tea Estate. Many have been arbitrarily imprisoned unjustly; many have lost their welfare; many have died of frustration and it seems no one cares and the woes are multiplying as the years go by. More of our land is being seized by the CTE management and even the Small Holder Schemes, who are supposed to benefit from the privatization clauses are instead being victimized and molested on a daily basis by CTE authorities. We are resolute because we know our cause is just. We of Ndu sub division; we of the Mbum tribe; we of Donga Mantung and our friends are bent on putting an end to this unending injustices. We have suffered and endured enough. Our source of strength today is born of a deep silence of long suffering hearts, not amidst joy. No one and nothing can stop our resolve to put an end to the atrocities of CTE on our Tea Estate. In the light of the above and many other grievances and considerations, we, the undersigned, citizens of Ndu sub division, Mbum tribe, Donga Mantung and friends and sympathizers of these deprived and suffering peoples, hereby call on the concerned bodies cited above to immediately take action to redress the ongoing injustices and atrocious activities. That we are capable of purchasing the Ndu Tea Estate as well and managing same for the betterment of the citizens and economy of Ndu and the state of Cameroon.
