Learn pirate history & lore, map skills, knot tying, star navigation and more. Test your sword skills to see if you are a sensational swashbuckler or will you walk the plank? Create your own Jolly Roger and discover what life was like for the limeys aboard a pirate ship. Will you find Blackbeards booty or will you end up in Davy Jones locker? Amazing Astronomy ages 6-13 Thurs. April 3,10,17,24 11am-12pm $50 Join us as we soar through the solar system and explore glittering galaxies, peaceful planets, shining stars, black holes, and other mysteries of the universe. Build a sundial, study the phases of the moon, identify constellations, and learn about comets and shooting stars on this stellar expedition through space. Wild West ages 6-13 Thurs. April 3,10,17,24 12:15-1:15pm $50 Calling all cowboys & cowgirls - join us as we tame the wild west. It was a wild time with horse thieves, cattle rustlers, and bank robbers. Learn about the lives of outlaws like Jessie James, Billy the Kid, & Butch Cassidy and the lawmen that brought justice to the west like Wild Bill Hickok and Wyatt Earp. Travel on the Transcontinental Railroad and the Pony Express. Create a wanted poster, design a pair of cowboy boots, learn the importance of a cowboys bandana, sample some grub, and lasso up some fun. Building Bridges ages 10-13 Fri. Learn bridge basics - materials, span, size, shape, force, compression, tension, bending, and truss. Learn the lingo for the different types of bridges - beam, truss, arch, suspension, and cantilever. Conduct strength tests and build a variety of bridges. This class will bridge the gap between imagination and hands on building. Passport to the World: Italy ages 10-18 Fri. April 4,11,18,25 11am - 12pm $50 Calling all adventurers, join us as we travel the world and earn stamps in our passport from all the countries we visit. We will learn about the geography, flag, population, language, wildlife, food, culture, climate, history, religion, sports, holidays, and customs of the countries we tour. Harper Lee considers her book to be a simple love story but it is regarded as a masterpiece of American literature. Parents please be advised that this book deals with the mature topics of rape and racial inequality and uses racial epithets. Students will need their own copy of the book.
