Times are hard, I get it! I need your help on this! I need you to CLICK the LINK below and make a $5.00 donation. “Every Child Can Learn” Friends! The Granville Summer Reading Program is the brain child of Dr. Natalie Bennett! Several years ago Natalie shared me with the idea of starting a summer reading program in Granville, she was responding to a need she saw on the ground while visiting. The program is now in its 4th year and is well received by the community. It caters to children of kindergarten to primary school age and is well attended. This year program will run July 7th through august 15th. Over the four years of the programs existence Natalie has single handed bore the cost with a little help from her friends. Last year was a particularly challenging year for the program. The reading and art materials was held up at customs because a government agency that embraced the program promised but failed to assist in clearing them. They finally cleared Customs in September, several weeks after the program ended. So the kids never got to benefit from them. This is what you should know about the Program: Summer Arts Workshop is a project of Granville Reading & Art Program. SAW is a free enrichment program for school-aged children (5 – 16 years) who live or attend school in Granville. It is held in July-August each year and serves 60-80 children. For six weeks, participants are immersed in an enriching and supportive learning environment. The children engage in various art-based activities that are facilitated by instructors and volunteers from the community. These activities help to expand the participants vocabulary and strengthen their reading and expressive skills. At the end of the program, the participants receive books to create their own libraries at home. The program also engages parents & caregivers in order to foster support for literacy and education at home. Lunch and snack are provided. Why am I sharing all of this with you? I need you to donate something to make this year’s Program a success. Click on the link below to donate. We need to raise $3,000.00us to put some fun in these kids’ lives this summer. gofundme/a80dy8 Thank you all for your generous contributions…Please make a donation of $5.00 or more..
