Times like this can still be made to happen again. But we need to tell ourselves we want to do it. There is a reason why there is widespread urban decay in many of our cities. The people really do not care about the community anymore; there is no familiarity and much insularity, within families and not without. Maybe sociologists would say this is due to the migrant mentality among Filipinos, the islanders among us who welcome transients for the easy income from rent and the bigger profits we get from selling things they need to live. Maybe.
